Kriya practice is a central curricular goal for Primary and 1st graders in yeshivos and chadorim across America. Most children succeed in learning Kriya during those years. Many schools have valuable remediation systems in place helping younger talmidim who struggle. Beyond 1st grade, it is often taken for granted that the Kriya skills were already mastered. The Kodesh Curriculum then concentrates on Chumash, Tefila, Parsha and other topics. However, research and experience have traced many learning issues in Kodesh throughout the grades to underlying Kriya difficulties. Schools that maintain Kriya practice in older grades have found higher rates of success in junior high and beyond. The panel of Chinuch leaders will share perspectives and practical results of Kriya programs that change the success rate for today’s talmidim.
